CORROSION OF CONFORMITY Guitarist's Family-Operated Business To Close Its Doors

R. Gregg of The Raleigh Chronicle reports that Weatherman Jewelers — the Raleigh, North Carolina-based store which is run by Toney and Karen Weatherman (parents of CORROSION OF CONFORMITY guitarist Woody Weatherman) — is going to close its doors in a few months after serving local customers for over 62 years.

The store is one of the longest continuously operated businesses in the city of Raleigh and has been at the same location on Hillsborough Street since it opened in 1945. Over the years, the store has seen Raleigh grow from a small town into a booming metropolis.

"I just hate to quit," says Toney Weatherman. "It's kind of an attribute to stay in one place for so long."

Weatherman said that his parents, Woodroe and Thelma Weatherman, came to Raleigh from Elkin, North Carolina where they had worked in a jewelry store.

"They picked Raleigh as a good spot and they have stayed here ever since," said Weatherman.

Weatherman, who has worked in the store since he was a child, said that he is reluctant to close down the store.
